The one and only Philippine Superstar Nora Aunor turns 62 on May 21

The one and only Philippine Superstar Nora Aunor will celebrate her 62nd birthday on Thursday, May 21.  Also known as Ate Guy and/or La Aunor, Nora was born in Iriga, Camarines Sur, where she was grand champion of the Darigold Jamboree Singing Contest.  She later joined Tawag ng Tanghalan to represent her province and was hailed the champion.

La Aunor started her movie and singing career with Tower Movie Productions, which was owned by producer/director Artemio Marquez.  In 1973, she was crowned at the first Miss Philippine Movies together with former Philippine President and now Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada for their movie, Erap is My Guy.
