AWARD-WINNING actor John Lloyd Cruz, who has confirmed that he and Bea Alonzo will star in a forthcoming film, has a new outlook in life, courtesy of his son Elias.

In an article in PEP.ph, Cruz revealed that it is his son who gives him the motivation to wake up and go to work.

“My son really is… he is my teacher,” John Lloyd said in Filipino. “He has a major role in why I am still in this industry. He is the big reason why I wake up and work hard. That’s why I really owe a lot, I owe my life to my son. If he were not here, I might not be here as well.”

It has been a few years since John Lloyd has been seen onscreen, whether in TV or in films.

During an indefinite leave of absence from showbiz, he got together with Ellen Adarna (who is now engaged to actor Derek Ramsay), they had Elias and split up eventually. He lived a private life, away from the limelight, during those years, thoroughly enjoying that stage of his life.

Whatever trials and tribulations he experienced since that time has made him closer to his Creator.

“I think that’s the essence of it. Parang there is no other way to go but to get closer to Him,” he surmised.

And with that new-found sense of faith has come a clearer outlook on life.

“I am thankful for the things that I have in my life right now,” the FAMAS, Luna and Gawad Urian winner said. “There is no anxiety or the burning desire for the things you do not have. It has become simpler… everything has become simpler.”

“Ayun, now you really see the things that you have in your life, and you see the value in it,” he added.

Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano has denied fake reports which claimed that she is joining next year’s search for Rabiya Mateo’s successor in Miss Univese-Philippines. Photo from Instagram.com/@lizasoberano

On the heels of Miss Universe-Philippines Rabiya Mateo failing to bring home the Miss Universe crown last May 16, fake reports have been circulating saying that actress Liza Soberano will be competing in next year’s search for Rabiya’s successor.

According to an article in the Philippine Star, Liza herself has denied any interest in joining the pageant.

“As much as I am flattered and grateful for all of your support and comments saying that I should give Miss Universe a try, I really don’t think it is for me,” Soberano was quoted as saying in the report.

“I’m an introvert and stages with a huge audience scare me half to death (as ironic as it may sound),” Liza added.

Her manager, Ogie Diaz, also belied the fake reports, while thanking those who feel that his ward has what it takes to compete and win in the Miss Universe-Philippines competition.

“Alam ko namang maraming nagpu-push ke Liza Soberano to join the Miss Universe-Philippines, dahil malakas kutob nila na Liza can make it. Again. thank you po,” Ogie said in a Facebook post.

“Hindi po ganyan magsalita si Liza,” he clarified, citing the alleged FB post which claimed that Soberano said she will compete in next year’s search. “Saka noon pa sinabi na ni Liza, hindi pa sumagi sa isip niya ang sumali dahil alam niyang grabeng preparasyon, commitment at dedication ang puhunan dito.”
