The actress and host looks back on the girl from Cebu who dreamed quietly  and the two-decade career that followed

Kim Chiu is taking a moment to look back.

The actress and television host marked her 20th year in show business with a message of gratitude, reflecting on the life she once prayed for and the career that began when she entered “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition” in 2006.

In a public anniversary post, Chiu said the milestone “still feels unreal.” She looked back on her younger self in Cebu, recalling how she used to pray for simple but life-changing things: good grades, help with school, a home for her family and the ability to stand on her own.

Two decades later, Chiu wrote that she can see those prayers in the life she has been able to build.

Her message was less about celebrity than perspective. Chiu thanked the people who stayed with her through the years, including her supporters, colleagues, brands and ABS-CBN family. The tone was grateful and reflective, a pause from the pace of a career that has kept her moving across television, film, hosting and streaming.

Chiu first became known to national audiences as the winner of the first teen edition of “Pinoy Big Brother.” What followed was a long-running entertainment career that took her from reality television to drama series, romantic comedies, variety shows and digital projects.

In recent years, she has remained active onscreen, with credits that include “Linlang,” “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?,” the Star Cinema film “My Love Will Make You Disappear” and “The Alibi,” her romance-suspense project with Paulo Avelino.

But in marking 20 years, Chiu kept the focus on something more personal: the distance between where she began and where she is now.

For the girl from Cebu who once prayed for stability, the anniversary was not just a career marker. It was a quiet acknowledgment of answered prayers, hard work and the people who helped carry her through.
