Former President Trump unveils TrumpCard.gov. The site is live but the program awaits federal approval.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former President Donald Trump has launched a new immigration-related website promoting a premium visa initiative that would grant U.S. residency — and potentially citizenship — to individuals willing to invest $5 million in what he calls the “Trump Card.”
Announced on June 12 through Trump’s Truth Social platform, the initiative invites foreign nationals to join a waitlist via TrumpCard.gov, where users can enter basic personal details. Though no application process currently exists, the site’s launch marks a high-profile pitch aimed at affluent investors from around the world.
“FOR FIVE MILLION $DOLLARS, THE TRUMP CARD IS COMING!” Trump posted. “THE WAITING LIST IS NOW OPEN. To sign up, go to – TRUMPCARD.GOV.”
A Proposed Alternative to EB-5
Positioned as a luxury upgrade to the existing EB-5 investor visa program, which grants permanent residency to foreigners investing between $800,000 and $1.05 million in U.S. businesses that generate jobs, the Trump Card carries a dramatically higher price tag — and a far more exclusive image.
The website features a gold-colored sample card stamped with Trump’s name, with promotional language describing it as a pathway to citizenship and a symbol of elite status in the U.S. No official guidance has been issued on eligibility, processing, or integration with existing immigration policies.
Commerce Secretary Lutnick: “Welcome Home”
Trump ally and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who also heads Cantor Fitzgerald, is helping promote the program. In public remarks, Lutnick framed the Trump Card as a “Plan B” for wealthy global citizens seeking a secure future in America.
“Why wouldn’t they want a plan B? We’re selling welcome. Welcome home,” Lutnick told Axios.
He added that formal details of the program would be released “in a matter of weeks, not months,” and claimed the initiative could raise vast sums for the U.S. government.
“If 200,000 people purchase the card, that’s $1 trillion,” Lutnick said.
Awaiting Federal Approval
While the website is live and drawing attention globally, the Trump Card program remains entirely unofficial. No federal agency has authorized it, and there is no legal basis for a $5 million visa-to-citizenship pathway under current U.S. immigration law.
Experts note that any such program would require congressional legislation to become a recognized part of the U.S. immigration system. The Department of Homeland Security has not commented on the proposal.
Observers also note the announcement comes amid Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, suggesting the plan may serve both as a policy teaser and a political statement aimed at wealthy international backers.
