SAN FRANCISCO – Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner, Jr. paid a courtesy call on Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer on January 25, 2024.
Consul General Ferrer welcomed General Brawner and his delegation to the Philippine Center in San Francisco. Members of the AFP delegation included the AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (J2) Maj. Gen. Ferdinand T. Barandon, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (J3) Maj. Gen. Fernando M. Reyeg, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Programs (J5) Maj. Gen. Jeffrey C. Hechanova, and Philippine Defense Attaché to the United States Commo. Salvador Henry Quinto.
The two sides discussed developments in Philippines-United States relations, regional security, including the situation in the South China Sea/ West Philippine Sea, and efforts to modernize the Philippine military.
General Brawner and his delegation are scheduled to attend the Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue at the Hoover Institution in Stanford University. The AFP Chief of Staff will also deliver a presentation during the event.
The Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue is an off-the-record forum that enables government officials, scholars, business professionals, and other stakeholders to candidly discuss conditions and priorities in the Indo-Pacific region.
