Missing Culver City Filipino man, found in Pasadena

LOS ANGELES — The Filipino man from Culver City who went missing on July 1 has been found in Pasadena.

Bernard Gomez, 45 years old, had reportedly gone missing on Tuesday, around 2 pm.

A missing person poster circulated on the Internet, detailing Bernard’s appearance and clothing, including some unique characteristics — bipolar condition, psoriasis-afflicted skin, and markings on his face and neck.

Asian Journal reached out to Ronald Gomez, a brother of Bernard’s, to obtain more information on the case. According to Ronald, the family was worried that they wouldn’t see him again. He also revealed that Bernard “just stopped taking his meds and just walked out” on Tuesday afternoon.

At around 10 am on Thursday morning, July 3, Ronald confirmed to Asian Journal that his brother had been found in a behavioral hospital in Pasadena. He said that a friend who works at Kaiser Permanente found a record that confirmed Bernard was admitted to the Kasier Permanente facility in West LA on July 1.

An emergency room staff then informed Ronald that his brother was transferred on July 2 to a behavioral treatment facility in Pasadena called Las Encinas Hospital. According to the staff member, Bernard gave the Las Encinas staff permission to inform his family that he is alive and well.

Ronald said that he thanks God for the ‘miracle.’ He learned of Bernard’s condition while doing a coffee run on Thursday morning.

“Awesome. Felt like fainting,” Ronald said to Asian Journal via text message.

Needless to say, the Gomez family has one more reason to be in a celebratory mood this weekend.
