Manila—The Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) on Saturday, August 26, 2023 signed an agreement with the Rover Circle 23 of the Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP) Manila Council as part of the Foundation’s Project Sambayanihan, a series of activation activities aimed at developing and promoting its 9.5-hectare green space in Parañaque.

NPF Executive Director Gertrudes Duran-Batocabe said that under this agreement, the Foundation will play host to BSP’s Manila Council in mounting green space initiatives that would engage different stakeholders in building and designing the much anticipated NPF Cultural Park and Creative Hub.

“We are happy to welcome BSP-Manila Council as partner in our Project Sambayanihan, to maximize this great piece of land in Entertainment City, and fully utilize its untapped potential as a hub, a living space and a green infrastructure, which, if given enough support and funding, can bring so much pride to our nation,” the executive director added.

According to NPF’s Board of Trustee Barbie Atienza, who was also present during the signing ceremony, this partnership is forged on shared responsibility to promote good values and develop a sense of leadership.

The NPF lined up a full two-day of activities for the  BSP-Manila Council’s Rover Circle 23 (Musketeers), Rover Circle 25 (Compass), and Rover Circle 14 following the memorandum of agreement signing at the park, that will drive stakeholder engagement and participation like free lectures and sports training such as disc golf clinics, as well as in the clearing operations of the park and other minor site development efforts that will further establish the NPF site as a public green space that offers a wide array of activities for nature and outdoor enthusiasts.

Under the agreement with NPF, and these Rover Circles of BSP-Manila Council will help in organizing activities that will drive stakeholder engagement and participation like free lectures and sports training such as disc golf clinics, as well as in the clearing operations of the park and other minor site development efforts that will further establish the NPF site as a public green space that offers a wide array of activities for nature and outdoor enthusiasts.

“It is my hope that the youth of today will learn about the Nayong Pilipino and what it aims to build. Through this partnership, I am very optimistic that scouts will play a vital role in helping the Nayong Pilipino Foundation achieve its goals and surpass the glory days of the Old Nayong Pilipino that many of us grew up with. The NPF can rest assured that we will continue to forge stronger bonds and bring about more positive change in this world.Un pour tous, tous pour un!” said Head and Council Executive Board Member of the Rover Circle 23 Musketeers, Vince Niño N. Fabella.

Consistent with the developmental goals of the Scouting Movement of “helping the youth in developing their values and acquiring competencies to become responsible citizens and capable leaders, preparing them to become agents of change within the community,” the BSP-Manila Council will help in the development efforts of the Park by helping in the clearing operations of the identified areas by the Foundation, while developing certain identified areas within the Park as Eco-Tourism sites.
