Cerritos, CA – The City of Cerritos concluded its General Municipal Election on March 4, 2025, with the election of three new City Council members and the approval of two key charter amendments. The results reflect a committed and engaged electorate determined to guide the city’s future.
New Council Members Elected
In the race for three City Council seats, Mark E. Pulido, Jennifer Hong, and Sophia Tse emerged as the top candidates. They will join the current Council members to lead Cerritos into its next chapter.
Mark E. Pulido, former mayor and an experienced public servant, received 3,249 votes. Pulido is known for his work on economic development and infrastructure, and his return to the City Council aims to continue those efforts.
Jennifer Hong, an advocate for community development and education, garnered 3,118 votes. Hong’s platform emphasizes transparency, small business support, and enhancing public safety and education.
Sophia Tse, a local business leader and environmental advocate, earned 2,901 votes. Tse has been active in Cerritos’ business community and advocates for policies that balance economic growth with environmental sustainability.
They will join Mayor George S. Ray, Mayor Pro Tem Carol Chen, Councilmember Bob M. Santos, and Councilmember Grace Yu on the City Council.

Charter Amendments Approved
In addition to the City Council election, residents voted on two significant charter amendments, both of which passed with strong support.
Measure J, which requires voter approval for future changes to the city’s municipal election date, passed with 4,116 “Yes” votes. This measure ensures that any alterations to the election schedule will be decided by the public.
Measure K, which modernizes the City Charter by updating outdated provisions and aligning it with state law, passed with 4,940 “Yes” votes. The amendment aims to ensure that Cerritos’ governing documents reflect current legal standards and practices.
