IT’S after 6pm, a dark evening in Los Angeles. The only street parking available on a curb is marked red. You park there. After two hours, you return to your car and you see a parking violation ticket.
The fine for parking on a red zone is violation of Section 80.56E of the Municipal Code of the City of Los Angeles is $93.00.
The ticket citation further states that a check or money order made payable to the CITY OF LOS ANGELES should be mailed in this envelope, with the citation number on the check.
It further advises that you have 21 days to pay or contest this citation. If you fail to pay or contest timely, the parking penalty will increase.
Other Violation:
Under Section 80.56 of the Municipal Code of the City of Los Angeles, the following parking violations are fined at $58.00: parking on white (E1) zone, on yellow (E2) zone, and on a green (E3) zone.
Parking in an alley under Section 80.61 is penalized at $68.00; in a Bus Zone under Section 225001 of the CA Vehicle Code at $293.00; and on a sidewalk under Section 22500F of the CA Vehicle Code $68.00.
Moreover, parking in a handicapped space under Section 25507.8 of the CA Vehicle Code is fined at $363.00; parking at fire hydrant under Section 22514 of the CA Vehicle Code at $68.00.
For meter violation under Section 88.13B of the Municipal Code, the fine is $63.00; for no stopping under Section 80.69A am or pm at $93.00; and for no parking under Section 80.69B at $73.00.
Conclusion:
Aggressive enforcement of parking rules is revenue-marking for any city. You are well-advised to obey all the rules or be fined.
