Online program Wilyonaryo to end social media run as Wowowin comeback is floated
MANILA — Veteran television host Willie Revillame has stirred renewed speculation about a possible return to GMA Network after meeting with senior executives of the broadcaster, in a development that comes alongside changes to his current digital program.
Revillame was recently seen with GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes and Sparkle GMA Artist Center executive Joy Marcelo. The meeting has drawn attention within the industry, although neither the network nor the host has confirmed any formal agreement or ongoing negotiations.
The sighting coincides with Revillame’s announcement that Wilyonaryo, his online game-oriented program, will conclude its run on major social media platforms on May 15. He said the show will continue through a dedicated website, signaling a shift in distribution strategy rather than a full shutdown.
At the same time, Revillame has indicated that Wowowin, the variety show that defined much of his tenure in Philippine television, is being prepared for a return. The program previously aired on GMA Network from 2015 until early 2022, establishing a strong following before his subsequent network transitions.
Industry observers note that while the meeting with GMA executives has prompted expectations of a possible Kapuso comeback, no official programming details, contract terms, or broadcast timelines have been disclosed. Accounts of the meeting’s purpose remain limited, and its outcome has not been publicly clarified by any of the parties involved.
Revillame’s career has been marked by multiple network affiliations and format shifts, including a period with ALLTV and a later partnership with MediaQuest and TV5. His recent pivot reflects a broader pattern among television personalities navigating between traditional broadcast platforms and independent digital ventures.
For now, the confirmed developments remain specific: Wilyonaryo will exit social media distribution in mid-May while continuing online in another format, Wowowin is being positioned for a return, and Revillame has engaged with GMA leadership in a meeting that has yet to be formally defined.
Whether the discussions lead to a renewed partnership with GMA Network remains unresolved.
