Valerie Weigmann proud to represent PH at Miss World despite loss, Miss South Africa wins the 2014 crown

ALTHOUGH Miss Philippines Valerie Weigmann failed to bring home the crown at the 64th Miss World pageant last December 15, she is still proud to have represented the country.  In fact, her fans are just equally supportive of her, in spite of her loss.

Valerie was one of the 25 semi-finalists, and was also in the top 10 in the judging of “Beauty with a Purpose,” which was the central theme of the pageant.  However, she failed to make it to the next round.

One of the crowd favorites, Valerie shared that she is humbled by all the support she has received.

“I mean hindi ko  na talaga akalain nag anon kagrabe ‘yung support ng mga Pinoy.  ‘Yung pa lang eh para sa akin win na sa akin.  Kahit hindi ako kasama sa top 10, positive pa rin ako kasi na-experience ko kung gaano kamahal ng Pinoys ang mga representative natin, so ako, best experience ever,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

The Miss World crown this year went to Rolene Strauss, a 22-year-old medical student from South Africa, with Miss USA Elisabeth Safrit as 2nd runner-up and Miss Hungary Edina Kulcsar as first runner-up.

Miss World 2013—our very own Megan Young—was there to pass on the crown to the new winner.  Megan also hosted the program along with Welsh actor and TV presenter Tim Vincent.

So our congratulations still to Valerie to making the Philippines proud in this year’s Miss World!  Up next is Mary Jean Lastimosa for Miss Universe 2014 on January 15, 2015.

Our congratulations to newlyweds actress Neri Naig and Parokya ni Edgar’s front man Chito Miranda!  The couple got hitched twice—first in a civil ceremony in Taguig City last December 13, and then a garden wedding the following day at Angelfields Sanctuary in Tagaytay City.

As expected, the wedding in Tagaytay was solemn, but out of the norm.  It was no less than actor, radio DJ and TV host Ramon Bautista who officiated the ceremony, while Boys’ Night Out radio co-host Jojo the Lone Survivor was the altar boy.

Among the showbiz personalities who were guests at the wedding were Bela Padilla, Angel Locsin, Xyriel Manabat and Paolo Paraiso.  Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano was one of the principal sponsors.
