TV host and actress Valerie Weigmann is the new Miss World Philippines

A 24-year-old lass has big shoes to fill as she represents the country in London this December in the Miss World pageant.

Filipino-German Valerie Clacio Weigmann was crowned Miss World Philippines last October 12 at the Mall of Asia Arena—taking over last year’s winner and reigning Miss World Megan Young.

Winning over the other 25 candidates, Valerie was the crowd favorite and bagged the majority of the special awards.  She was named Best in Swimsuit, Best in Fashion Runway and Best in Long Gown, among others.

In the Q&A portion, Valerie’s response was directed to inspiring others to take up personal advocacy.

“I believe in the importance of empathy and compassion because I see, if all of us can all come together, we can all be advocates of change. And I want to inspire and encourage everyone to take up personal advocacy,” she said.

A regular co-host of GMA Network’s longest running noontime show, Eat Bulaga!, Valerie was also a part of the second season of ABS-CBN’s reality show, Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition in 2008.  She was also part of the cast of TV5’s fantasy series Kidlat with Derek Ramsay.

Representing Camarines, Albay province/Bicol region; Valerie loves to travel with her friends.  Aside from hosting, acting and modeling, she is a co-owner of a German-Turkish restaurant in Makati.

Completing the top five are Lorraine Kendrickson (1st Princess), Nelda Ibe (2nd Princess), Nicole Donesa (3rd Princess), and Rachel Peters (4th Princess).

Congratulations to Valerie Weigmann and we wish her the best of luck when she goes to Miss World in London!

Happy and contented.  That is what sexy actress Katrina Halili’s mantra now.   This is in spite of finally admitting that she and singer Kris Lawrence (father of her two-year-old daughter) have ended their relationship.

Facing the world of single motherhood, the actress stepped out sporting a new, shorter hairdo.  Admitting that she has become more aggressive, she made sure that she and Kris split expenses evenly for their daughter.

Again, don’t be confused—because regardless of the end of their relationship, Katrina is happy and contented.

Walang bitterness sa puso ko.  Mas mature na ako,” she said in an interview with Yahoo Philippines.

Congratulations are in order for actress Kristine Hermosa and husband Oyo Boy Sotto as they welcomed their third child last October 11, a baby boy they have named Kaleb Hanns.

Oyo and Kristine have two older children, son Quiel and daughter Ondrea.

Although Kristine has been less active in showbiz, she is nonetheless happy with being a full-time mom.  However, this does not mean that she has closed the doors on acting again, adding that she’s willing to work again if the project is good.

“But of course, hindi ko pwedeng i-sacrifice yung time ko for my family. Kasi masaya ako dito eh. For as long as okay yung schedule, yung story, lahat okay, no problem. I can always go back,” she added.
