Satorre heads Hermana Mayors and donors for Padre Senior Jesus Nazareno de Quiapo fiesta

CALIFORNIA Commissioner for the Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists Rey Satorre and his wife, the former Rachel Forneas, both devotees of the Nuestro Senior Padre Jesus Nazareno de Quiapo, will head the list of Hermana mayors for the fiesta.

The 18th century replica of the Black Nazarene was formally owned by the late Dona Mercedes Syquia de Villar from Vigan, Ilocos Sur and was inherited by beauty impresario Ferdie Syquia de Villar.  Her personally brought the image with him when he immigrated here to Northern California in 1978.

The schedule of the nine-day event will include the Holy Rosary and Holy Mass, which will start on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at 11am at the Villar residence at 140 Escanyo Drive (across Arroyo Drive) in South San Francisco.

From January 2 to January 8, the Holy Rosary and Novena will be at 6pm.  The grand fiesta on Thursday, January 9 and Holy Rosary Novena will start at 6pm followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass.

The executive committee for the annual fiesta include:  Altar and setting of the event – Marc and Cora Garvida, for floral decoration of the altar – Christina Caceres and Charito Somer, invitation chairman – Dr. Narciso “Tito” and Pressy Yusi, food arrangement – Elaine Estabrooks and musical director for the novenas – Jose Defeo.

The other Hermana mayors for this year’s celebration are Oakland Hills religious leader Sylvia Tongco Ford, Daly City religious leader Monching and Susan Bunag, South San Francisco community leaders Mitch and Joan Tulio, Daly City realtor Ching Evaristo of REMAX/Westlake, Daly City civic leaders Pat and Ely Ancheta, Cupertino businessman Surech and Rema Vasa, Philippine Delicacies owners Leo and Lina Quiambao, Aptos businessman and Mrs. Frank Sityar, former Mrs. RP-USA Universe Lei Venegas, Daly City realtor and religious leader Rolly and Hermie Lavarias, Anabel Guevarra of Pampanga Cuisine, and East Bay socialite Nelly Cojuangco.
