HE has proven that age is not a factor in being a star. Last May 18, actor Richard Yap turned 47 and still remained humble as ever.
The star of the hit teleserye Be Careful With My Heart, shared that he wished for nothing more for himself, apart from to continue to receive more blessings so he can share those to others. In fact, Richard has and still extends financial support to charities, sick and homeless kids and churches.
In real life, Richard lives his life the simple way. He and his wife Melody,co-owns the Quezon City branch of Wangfu Chinese Bistro.
Be Careful has made Richard as “Sir Chief” a household name since 2012, and is still one of the top rated TV series today. Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, the series also stars Jodi Sta. Maria as Maya de la Rosa, who plays a nanny to Yap’s three kids in the show. She later becomes his wife, and mother of their twins.
The show ranks among the 15 most watched programs in the Philippines, and is also a hit among Malaysians. According to the Malaysian entertainment group Media Prima, the series currently enjoys an average of 1.6 million daily viewers.
Born and raised in Cebu, Richard is of Chinese-Filipino heritage. He launched his career in 2011 via the series My Binondo Girl where he played Kim Chiu’s father, Chen Sy. His little role gained wide recognition from fans of the series.

It takes a strong person to pretend that she’s okay when she’s actually hurting inside. Furthermore, it takes a stronger person to admit it in public.
That is why Kris Aquino deserves to be happy—because regardless of how the public feeds on her private life (and her pitfalls), she is determined to remain positive about it. She falls down like anybody else, but she picks herself up quickly and moves on with her life in spite of the hurt.
Just last June 10, we again saw Kris stumble and hurt. In her Instagram post she said that she is not okay and she needed time for herself. Because of this, she had to pack up her taping for her show Kris TV, and apologized that she would not be able to appear on late night show, Aquino and Abunda Tonight, with Boy Abunda.
On her post she said, “Just not okay today…Had to pack up my taping & won’t be in A&A Tonight…I’m sorry for needing this time for myself.”
She also posted this quote saying, “Sometimes the girl who’s always been there for everyone else, needs someone to be there for her.”
Kris admitted that she is still “brokenhearted,” and it will take some time before she will really be okay.
“Back to work tomorrow & back on IG [Instagram] once I’m sure that my broken heart is healed. Nahihiya lang ako mag pretend pa to be okay when I still have a long way to go…I owe you & I owe myself this HONESTY.”
Although the Queen of All Media did not elaborate about her “broken heart,” many speculated that it had something to do about Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista’s interview on Bandila last June 6. The Yes Or No segment was mostly about their short-lived relationship.
The Philippine Star columnist and TV talk show host Ricky Lo also reached out to Kris about Mayor Herbert’s statements, but she declined to make any more comments.
Well, we hope that Kris’ heart will be mended soon. If she was able to heal after the tumultuous marriage and separation from James Yap, we are sure that she’d be able to surpass the pain she is feeling now.
