FILIPINO American stand-up comedian Jo Koy announced that his latest Netflix special will take place in the Philippines.
“I’m so excited to announce that my 3rd @netflix special ‘In His Elements’ premieres June 12. We brought Netflix to the Philippines! Let’s go!!” he revealed in a Twitter post on Thursday, May 14.
The 48-year-old comedian’s new special will be about showing the world what it’s like in the Philippines.
“It’s a very special moment for me. This is that one special where I was like I need to go back home, the Philippines,” the comedian said.
He added, “I need to show the people where my mom is from. I had this crazy idea; I was like let me bring a bunch of my friends that are Filipino that live in America that haven’t even been back to the Philippines.”
He enthused that ‘Jo Koy: In His Elements’ will show how beautiful the Philippines is, and how beautiful the people are.
Jo Koy also expressed confidence that his mom will be proud of what he’s done.
“Everything about this special is Filipino, the cameraman, the people in the audience, the people that own the venue,” he said.
“We need to embrace our culture and have a great time. I can’t wait for the world to see it. Love you guys! So proud of this one. My mom is going to be more proud ‘cause I finally brought Netflix to the Philippines,” he added.
Jo Koy, whose birth name is Joseph Glenn Hubert, first took the stage in Las Vegas in 1989 and has been working as a stand-up comedian ever since.
His two previous Netflix specials are “Comin’ in Hot” and “Live from Seattle.”
