Actress-comedian says she was not surprised by the reported marriage
MANILA — Gerald Sibayan, former husband of actress-comedian Ai-Ai delas Alas, has reportedly remarried in a civil ceremony at San Francisco City Hall, about six months after their California divorce was finalized.
Philippine entertainment reports said Sibayan wed in San Francisco this week. Delas Alas, responding Thursday to news of the marriage, said she was not surprised and wished him well.
“Expected ko na ’yan,” she said, adding that she has moved forward since their separation.
The reported remarriage comes nearly two years after the couple split. Delas Alas and Sibayan married on Dec. 12, 2017, after about three years together. She said he ended their relationship in October 2024 while she was in the Philippines and he was in the United States. She publicly confirmed their separation the following month.
Delas Alas later pursued a California divorce, which she said was filed in March 2025 and finalized a year later. She has also said she is pursuing a separate church annulment.
Following the separation, delas Alas withdrew a family-based immigration petition she had filed for Sibayan. U.S. immigration authorities later notified her that approval of the petition had been automatically revoked. The action does not, by itself, establish Sibayan’s current immigration status.
