I arrived on time for the Mass officiated by Fr. Bong Guerrero, widely known as the “Happy Priest,” one of the most dynamic preachers of the Diocese of Cubao. A stalwart of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Fr. Bong is also the author of several books and a popular series of humorous reflections on life and faith. It was my first time meeting him during the Orlina Atelier Christmas Party.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, opening remarks were delivered by renowned Filipino glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, often hailed as the Father of Philippine Glass Sculpture, together with his wife, Lay Ann Lee Orlina, a London-educated lawyer.

Six gift certificates were then awarded, followed by a prayer before a sumptuous dinner. Raffle prizes came next, and every employee went home a winner, whether with a minor or major prize.
The program continued with children’s games and a series of group performances inspired by Shakira, K-pop Demon Hunters, Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift. One of the most entertaining segments was the search for Ms. Grand Orlina 2025, featuring male contestants dressed in feminine attire.
Judging proved to be no easy task. In the end, there was a tie for first place between the Shakira and K-pop Demon Hunters groups. All the performers deserved recognition for the creativity, preparation, and effort they poured into this annual Christmas tradition.
Joining me on the judging panel were Lay Ann Orlina, Anna Orlina, Michael Orlina, and Dr. Ysabella Veniece Ponce, M.D., of the UP-PGH Department of Medicine.
Closing remarks were delivered by Ramon and Lay Ann Orlina, bringing the evening to a warm and festive conclusion.
