In a celebration that bridged the worlds of showbiz and high society, singer Claudia Barretto married her longtime boyfriend Basti Lorenzo on April 8, 2025, at St. James the Great Parish in Ayala Alabang Village. The wedding was especially poignant—it marked the couple’s 10th anniversary.
Claudia, daughter of former actress-politician Marjorie Barretto and actor-comedian Dennis Padilla, wore a timeless off-shoulder satin gown. Basti, dressed in a classic Barong Tagalog, stood by her side as they exchanged vows. The elegant reception was held at The Lakehall at Nena’s Sanctuary in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

The couple, who began their relationship when Claudia was 15,  maintained a private but steady partnership throughout the years.

The Lorenzo Legacy: Business Meets Showbiz
Basti Lorenzo comes from one of the Philippines’ most respected business families.

He is the son of Martin Ignacio Paez Lorenzo, a Wharton-educated entrepreneur known for revitalizing Pancake House Inc., and for leading First Lucky Holdings Corp. and Central Azucarera de Tarlac, Inc.

His mother, Maria Leah de Leon Lorenzo,  raised their twelve children, including Basti and Mateo Rafael Lorenzo—who is married to actress Erich Gonzales.

The Lorenzos’ ventures span food and beverage, sugar production, education, and finance, making them a powerful force in Philippine business.

A Family Affair—and Some Drama
Claudia’s siblings—Dani, Julia, Leon, and Erich Barretto—were all part of the entourage, standing by her side with their mother, Marjorie. VIP guests included Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres-Gomez, whose daughter Juliana served as one of the bridesmaids. Socialites Hannah and Ella Pangilinan were also in attendance.

However, the day did not pass without controversy. Claudia’s father, Dennis Padilla, who was present at the wedding, publicly expressed his disappointment afterward. In a now-deleted social media post, he wrote:

“Grabe kayo! Nabudol niyo ako! Father of the bride naging visitor! Galing niyo!”(“Unbelievable! You tricked me! The father of the bride ended up just being a visitor! Well done!”)

Padilla claimed he was not included in the program or properly acknowledged, saying he felt more like a guest than a father.

His brother, Gene Padilla, echoed the sentiment, calling out the Barretto children for not giving Dennis the respect he deserved on such an important occasion. The statements sparked debate online, with netizens divided on the issue.

Adding to the layered family dynamics, Claudia’s aunts—Gretchen and Claudine Barretto—as well as the family matriarch, Inday Barretto, were notably absent. Their absence, though not explained, reignited public interest in the longstanding tensions within the Barretto clan.

A New Chapter
Despite the storm around the sidelines, the day remained a testament to Claudia and Basti’s enduring bond.

With ten years of shared history already behind them, the newlyweds now move forward—carrying with them the strength of their families, the calm of their quiet love, and the spotlight of a life forever.
