Fil-Am Chamber of Commerce of Greater LA to install new president at 2020 fundraising gala

Incoming FACCGLA President Annie Nepomuceno (2nd from right) receives a small business award and is joined by fellow chamber members and California State Senator Henry Stern

AFTER two years of presidency, Ellen Samson will pass the torch to Annie Nepomuceno who will serve a two-year term along with a new Board of Directors in the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Los Angeles (FACCGLA).

This changing of the guard follows two fruitful years under President Ellen Samson. The Chamber’s regular activities, which includes informational but fun networking mixers, and participation in mainstream business events has made it the most active chamber in Southern California.

Outgoing FACCGLA President Ellen Samson

Samson, a business owner herself with American Geriatric, propagated a “push for entrepreneurship” as the rally cry of FACCGLA. Her motivation was to change the community perception of the role of Filipino American Chambers of Commerce. To be true to its advocacy, it had to be redefined as a business and professional organization, differentiating it from a social or a cultural group.

With an established clear-cut vision and mission supporting entrepreneurship, every project clicked, surpassing expectations backed by a strong team of Board members, a very cohesive group with new leaders who rose up to the occasion.

Samson looks forward to the very promising and charismatic leadership of incumbent Vice President for Marketing and President-Elect, Annie Nepomuceno, whose background is in the performing arts and the music business. She is the founder and owner of Music Arts Events Inc. Her experience includes every nook and cranny in artist administration that includes contracts, licensing, merchandising, touring, promotion and marketing, aside from the usual performing and teaching.

Nepomuceno says “the Filipino is inventive, creative, and smart, makers of marvelous things. I would like to spark creativity in business.”

She continues “Ellen is a tough act to follow, but I believe that we have the team that can empower, enrich and engage. It is time to level up!”

Nepomuceno and the incoming Board are set to be installed on Sunday, January 12 at 6 p.m. at the “Shining Shimmering Splendid” Gala. This is the annual fundraiser of FACCGLA to be held at the Hilton Woodland Hills. Everyone is welcome to attend. Tickets are $75 until January 5 and will be $85 thereafter, available at www.faccgla.org. Please RSVP by January 10. Contact [email protected] for more information.
