The new Miss Philippines Earth 2016 has been crowned last Saturday, June 11 at UP Theater in Diliman, Quezon City.
Standing out amongst 45 other candidates from all over the Philippines—and the world, was Imelda Schweighart from Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The 21-year-old lass is also a veteran of beauty pageants. She joined Bb. Pilipinas in 2013, the same year Pia Wurtzbach—who is now Miss Universe—joined the pageant.
However, Imelda shared that she has been trying to prove her Filipino nationality, because of her German roots. The newly crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2016 also described her win as a “vindication of her hard word and the criticism she went through prior the pageant night. Still, she is happy that things turn out the way they did, and is confident in winning the crown for Miss Earth, for the third time.
Imelda is a Theatre Arts student and has always dreamed of being a pop star. During the question and answer portion of the pageant, she said that given a chance to speak with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, she would push for the banning of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and seeds in the country.
The other winners are Miss Philippines Air Kiara Giel Gregorio of London (who was also named Miss Hana Shampoo), Miss Philippines Water Loren Mar Artajos of Laoag City, Miss Philippines Fire Shannon Bridgman of Rosales, Pangasinan and Miss Philippines Eco-tourism Melanie Mader of Vienna.

Viva Entertainment Inc. big boss Vic del Rosario recently dismissed all rumors about Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo pregnancy.
“Paano mabubuntis, e, virgin pa yun?,” said del Rosario in an interview with PEP.ph.
Of course, the pregnancy rumors are also fueled by the fact that Sarah has been serious about her relationship with current boyfriend, actor-singer Matteo Guidicelli.
However, Boss Vic explained that Sarah is taking a two-month vacation to avoid getting burned out. He also added that the 27-year-old actress has been working hard for the last 10 years and deserves a break.
Besides, he believes that Sarah is of legal age to decide what she wants to do with her life.
