Victims sought after Pinoy caregiver’s arrest

NEWPORT BEACH – Law enforcement officials are seeking the publics help identifying possible additional victims of a Filipino caregiver accused of sexually assaulting a 66-year-old disabled woman.

On June 17, Orange County Sheriff officers oarrested Robert Ligayo, 62, of Aliso Viejo for elder abuse and sexual battery.

Ligayo is in custody with bail set at $100,000. Ligayo has no other criminal history, according to Sheriff investigators.

Ligayo was working as a caregiver for Salus Home Care. He was responsible for taking care of a disabled woman and her husband, according to a statement from the Orange County District Attorney’s (DA) office.

The DA said Ligayo’s crime took place sometime between January 2013 and June 2013.

According to the DA, Ligayo is accused of sexually assaulting the disabled woman despite the victim attempting to stop hm.

The victim reported the crime to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, who arrested Ligayo after an investigation.

Ligayo was charged with one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object by force, the DA said.

If convicted, he faces eight years in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.
