Deadline to Apply for Financial Aid is March 3rd
LOS ANGELES – Monday, March 3rd at 10pm (PST) is the state deadline for students to apply for financial aid for college. The Free Applications for Student Aid (FAFSA) needs to be submitted along with a GPA verification form to allow access to financial aid opportunities in the form of fee waivers, grants, scholarships and low-interest student loans.
Every year, the largest mistake that families and students make is not applying for financial aid because they aren’t sure if they’ll qualify.

Many Asian and Pacific Islanders (API) do not fully utilize all the financial aid opportunities available to them to pay for school. Also, a large number of API students – particularly immigrant students – face linguistic and cultural barriers in applying for financial aid.
To address these issues, the California Community Colleges is sponsoring a statewide financial aid awareness campaign called “I CAN Afford College.” The campaign provides all students with valuable financial aid information and resources to achieve their goals.
Visit icanaffordcollege.com for detailed financial aid information, to begin the application process, get connected with your local college financial aid office and to find financial aid workshops in your area where you can receive free one-on-one assistance completing the applications. Individuals who do not have Internet access can call 1-800-987-ICAN (4226).
The California Community Colleges provides nearly 1.1 million students each year with financial aid totaling more than $2.5 billion. Many students are not taking full advantage of the financial aid available to pay for fees, books, supplies and sometimes even help with the rent.
