Baryo HiFi Returns to Historic Filipinotown on Saturday, May 16 with Afro-Filipino Icon Joe Bataan and a Stacked Lineup of Food, Music, Art, and Cultural Programming

Los Angeles, CA — May 2026 — After drawing more than 17,000 attendees last year, Baryo HiFi returns to Historic Filipinotown on Saturday, May 16, 2026 for its third annual celebration of Filipino culture, creativity, music, food, and community in Los Angeles.

What began as a grassroots gathering has quickly evolved into one of the largest Filipino cultural festivals in the country, bringing together generations of artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and community members for a full day of performances, food, art, and community-driven programming.

Longtime supporter, co-founding partner, and global comedy icon Jo Koy continues to play an integral role in bringing Baryo HiFi to life. A strong advocate for Filipino representation, Jo Koy has consistently used his platform to uplift Filipino culture, create opportunities for the community, and amplify Filipino stories on a global stage.

Headlining this year’s festival is Afro-Filipino King of Latin Soul Joe Bataan, whose groundbreaking contributions to Latin soul and Filipino representation in music have influenced generations across cultures and genres. Joining him is beloved singer-songwriter Jeremy Passion, whose viral YouTube hit “Lemonade” became an anthem for a generation of Filipino-American youth online, alongside 2025 NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Ruby Ibarra, celebrated for her fearless storytelling and multilingual lyricism.

Legendary DJs DJ Babu and DJ Rhettmatic of the Beat Junkies will also take the stage, honoring the Filipino-American pioneers who helped shape turntablism and modern DJ culture globally.

Presented by MYX Global, the festival will additionally spotlight a new generation of emerging Filipino artists including Jamie Ave, Acoya, and JMKO.

“Music has always brought people together across cultures, generations, and neighborhoods,” says Joe Bataan. “To see Filipino culture being celebrated this way, out in the open for the next generation to embrace with pride, means a lot to me. I’m honored to be part of this moment with Baryo HiFi.”

One of the festival’s most anticipated traditions, the annual karaoke competition, returns this year with the launch of “BARYOKE,” presented by . The new series will continue throughout the summer with karaoke competitions hosted at select Seafood City grocery locations, celebrating one of the most beloved and unifying Filipino pastimes.

Baryo HiFi’s food program continues to expand with a stacked lineup of Filipino and Filipino-American vendors, featuring Historic Filipinotown favorites like Cafe 86, Dollar Hits, HiFi Kitchen, and Park’s Finest, alongside newcomers including Soul Phil by Chef Tiana Gee and Teofilo Coffee, which highlights coffee beans sourced directly from the Philippines.

“Food is one of the strongest ways we connect to culture and to each other,” says Miles Canares, Co-Founder and Event Producer. “We wanted this year’s lineup to reflect both the legacy of Historic Filipinotown and the new generation of Filipino chefs and entrepreneurs pushing things forward.”

The festival will also feature three distinct marketplaces celebrating Filipino creativity and commerce. A marketplace curated by Sari Sari Studio will showcase a diverse mix of food, crafts, art, and community vendors. A second marketplace curated by Buttery Pat and Tried & Trued Co will spotlight new and vintage apparel, Filipino streetwear, collectibles, and one-of-a-kind finds. A third marketplace, Fil-I-Am, will spotlight brands and products sourced directly from the Philippines, connecting attendees to makers and designers from across the diaspora.

For the third consecutive year, Nike returns in support of the festival’s multidisciplinary art exhibition. Curated by Tambayan and concepted by Stephanie Ramos, this year’s outdoor exhibit, “Second Nature,” explores sport as a defining force within Filipino culture, shaping how communities connect, create, and move through the world.

“As Filipino and Filipino-American athletes continue gaining visibility across boxing, basketball, tennis, racing, football, and soccer, sport has become part of a much bigger conversation around representation, identity, and cultural pride,” says Stephanie Ramos, Co-Founder and Marketing Consultant. “Second Nature explores how those values live far beyond the game itself.”

The festival’s cultural programming in the park, led by FilAm Arts, will include traditional dance workshops, palm weaving, mahjong, and family-friendly community activities designed to celebrate Filipino heritage across generations.

“Baryo HiFi has always been about creating space for our community to gather, be seen, and celebrate who we are together,” says Jennifer Taylor, Co-Founder and Community Leader. “Every year, it grows into something even more meaningful, and we’re excited to continue building something that reflects the heart, creativity, and resilience of our people.”

Baryo HiFi is free and open to the public.
