Silver Lake Dog Park Sign Design Contest Seeks to Keep It Clean

SILVER LAKE — Fresh ideas are needed for a design contest geared toward promoting ‘keeping it clean’ and responsible dog park etiquette at one of the most popular parks in the City of Los Angeles.

Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell and the Department of Recreation and Parks are seeking graphic design entries from the public. Each entry should encourage Silver Lake Dog Park-goers to pick up after their pooch. The idea for the contest was hatched out of necessity: hundreds of people and dogs enjoy the Silver Lake Dog Park every day, but many forget about the responsibility of picking up after their furry friend.

“Whether you have two legs or four, I want every person and creature to have a pleasant experience at the Silver Lake Dog Park,” said O’Farrell. “I am excited to see the great designs that will help encourage more responsible dog ownership and help beautify the community in a simple way.”

The winning designs will serve as official signage at the Silver Lake Dog Park and possibly at other Los Angeles City Dog Parks.

Those interested in submitting a design can do so starting August 1 at 12:00 a.m., through October 15at 11:59 p.m. Participants must submit their information (per #5 Ground Rules, listed below) and design(s) in the proper format (#’s 8, 9 & 10 below) within this time frame.
