The Philippine Medical Society of Northern California (PMSNC) will hold its 42nd Anniversary and Installation of 2014-2015 Officers with a dinner-dance on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront (1800 Old Bayshore Highway) in Burlingame, CA.
Officers to be installed include Dr. Carmencita Abarquez-Agcaoili, president; Dr. Peter Bretan, president-elect; Dr. Leila Raymundo Olivera, immediate past president; Dr. Ria San Valentin Calinga, recording secretary; Dr. Lucia Cabreros, corresponding secretary; Dr. Madeleine Hernandez, treasurer; Dr. Ester Lazo-Kotowski, auditor; Dr. Emmanuel Cepe, public relations officer;regional vice presidents Dr. Heminigildo Valle (San Francisco/San Mateo), Dr. Antonio AB Mataban (Alameda/Contra Costa), Dr. Giselda Tan (San Jose/Santa Clara), & Dr. Cecilia Loleng (Monterey, Napa/Solano/San Luis Obispo); and regional board representatives Dr. Teresita Degamo (San Francisco/San Mateo), Dr. Carmelo Roco (Alameda/Contra Costa), Dr. Miguel Doria (San Jose/Santa Clara), & Dr. Virginia Tobias (Monterey/Napa/Solano/San Luis Obispo).
Music at the event will be provided by Elements of Time. No-host cocktails is scheduled at 6pm, with dinner served at 7pm. Serving as overall chair of the inaugural committee for the March 29 dinner-dance is Dr. Agnes Alikpala.
The PMSNC has been an active partner of the community for the past 27 years. Its community involvements include a Scholarship Award Program which recognizes deserving Filipino American medical students, and an outreach program that provides medical services, including flu vaccinations, to the elderly and other minorities in the Bay Area.
Overseas, the PMSNC’s members and volunteers have gone to the Philippines every January to hold medical missions and provide much-needed medical/surgical, optometry and dental services to the underserved population in the homeland.
Last year, in the face of the devastation laid by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda in southern Philippines, the PMSNC made a substantial donation to victims of the calamity, especially those in areas which were not as publicized or reported.
