SAN FRANCISCO – In a dazzling display of cutting-edge technology and Filipino pride, the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) featured a drone show against the picturesque backdrop of the San Francisco Bay on January 28, 2024.

Showcasing a kaleidoscope of the nation’s vibrant heritage, the drone show highlighted various facets of Filipino lifestyle and culture, including underwater diving, culinary delights such as mango, halo-halo, and street foods, national symbols like the sampaguita flower, traditional fashion and the tinikling dance, the vinta boat, the rice terraces, Filipinos’ love for music through karaoke, and the pride evoked by the waving Philippine flag.

Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Neil Ferrer and Madame Miriam Ferrer, and Consul Vanessa Bago-Llona attended the event led by Tourism Attaché Soleil Tropicales of the PDOT Office in San Francisco.

Prior to the mesmerizing aerial display, guests were treated to an exquisite dinner at Mission Rock Resort, where a selection of Philippine snacks were also made available.

The event is part of the “Love the Philippines” campaign in San Francisco, spearheaded by the PDOT to spotlight the country’s unparalleled natural wonders, rich biodiversity, cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and distinctive culinary influence. The campaign aims to position the Philippines as a premier tourism destination in Asia.

The “Love the Philippines” campaign continued with the launch of the 2024 Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour, a 10-day curated journey where travelers from the U.S. explore various tourist spots and immerse in Filipino culture. The annual VIP Tour is a project of Philippine Foreign Service Posts in the United States with PDOT and the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.
