WASHINGTON – Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su visited Las Vegas from Jan. 9-11, 2024, to uplift the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing commitment to working families and building an economy that works for everyone.
Acting Secretary Su spoke on a panel focused on the future of artificial intelligence alongside Liz Shuler, president of AFL-CIO, Jesse Ehrenfeld, president of the American Medical Association, and Kathy Baxter, principal architect of responsible AI & tech at Salesforce, at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Later, Acting Secretary Su engaged with the Asian Community Development Council to highlight the diversity and successes of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander workers across industries in Las Vegas and the continued need to address the obstacles faced by this community.
The trip concluded with a roundtable discussion with Arriba Las Vegas Worker Center focused on the department’s successful enforcement efforts. Arriba is a recipient of a 2023 Susan Harwood Training Grant from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. These grants are used to support education and training to help workers and employers recognize serious workplace hazards, employ injury prevention and understand workers’ rights and employers’ responsibilities under federal law.
