A FILIPINA was shot and killed by her live-in partner in Minot, North Dakota over the weekend.
According to the Minot Police Department, it received a call just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, regarding a woman who had been shot multiple times in northwest Minot.
The victim, 29-year-old Arnalyn Repalam, was taken to Trinity Hospital before dying from her injuries.
An investigation led the Minot Police Department to the suspect, 41-year-old Eric Venn, as reported by KX News.
Officers spotted Venn in a vehicle where he attempted to flee. He was eventually apprehended in northeast Minot after a chase.
Venn is currently being held at the Ward County Jail on charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and fleeing in a motor vehicle. His bond has been set at $2.5 million by the court.
He will be back in court for his preliminary hearing and arraignment on August 19.
Repalam’s friend, Jenessa Pochant, set up a GoFundMe page to help send Repalam’s body back to the Philippines, as well as to help the family. As of this writing, the page has received over $15,000 of its $50,000 goal.
“I am raising fund[s] for my friend’s dead body and send her back to Philippines and give some help for her 8-year-old son. She doesn’t have family here in the U.S. She’s a friend of mine. She was murdered by her live-in partner. And she never survived with her head injury,” Pochant wrote on the page.
“I know she wanted to live permanently in the Philippines. And now she died unexpectedly and couldn’t do for herself. I am doing this for her and for her son and her family. Please, any amount would help,” she added.
Pochant also said that Repalam’s family requested her body “not to be cremated.”
“The 8 years old son wants to see [his] Mommy! It breaks my heart so bad! Please keep sharing! Any amount would help. Thank you so much!” she said.
