DALY CITY – The City Council of the City of Daly City held a Special Meeting on December 11, 2023 for the City Council Reorganization. As part of this Reorganization, Juslyn C. Manalo was selected Mayor for a one-year term and had the honor of being sworn in by the State of California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta.

“I am humbled and honored to have had the opportunity to be sworn in by Attorney General Rob Bonta, fierce advocate for California,” said Mayor Manalo. “I was able to share this historic moment with my husband, children, and parents by my side. To the Daly City community, I will uphold the duties and responsibilities as your Mayor. I take this role seriously and am dedicated to serving each and every one of you this coming year. I remain committed to prioritizing affordable housing (building and sustaining more rental and ownership opportunities), public safety, youth development and senior services, healthy neighborhoods, improved parks, and the intentional reimagining of public services in all facets of local government towards social justice and equity.”

“I also want to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr. Roderick Daus-Magbual on being elected as the Vice Mayor,” continued Mayor Manalo. “It was beautiful to witness Dr. Rod being sworn in by his daughter, Amianan.”

The City Council of the City of Daly City reorganized as follows:

Juslyn C. Manalo, Mayor

Dr. Roderick Daus-Magbual, Vice Mayor

Raymond A. Buenaventura, Council Member

Glenn R. Sylvester, Council Member

Pamela DiGiovanni, Council Member.

At the regular meeting held that same evening, the City Council of the City of Daly City unanimously approved the execution of an agreement with Magical Bridge Foundation for a Magical Bridge Playground at Hillside Park.

“I have long advocated to bring a Magical Bridge Playground to Daly City, as I am a proponent for socially inclusive play for children and adults of varying physical and cognitive abilities,” said Mayor Manalo. “Accessibility in North San Mateo County is critical, and I am proud that Daly City will be the future home of this destination playground that will be a welcoming place for all.”

The City Council also scheduled a public hearing on January 22, 2024 to consider the planned development and design review of the Serramonte Del Rey Campus Redevelopment.

“I invite the community to attend this important meeting to voice their comments on this project, so that the City Council can make an informed decision about a housing development project that will impact so many in our community,” said Mayor Manalo. (Daly City Release)
