MANILA — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) continues to canvass votes from the May 12 midterm elections. As of May 13, partial and unofficial results indicate that 67.76% of local election returns and 19.42% of overseas returns have been processed.
The elections will determine 12 Senate seats, all 317 seats in the House of Representatives, and thousands of local positions across the country.

House and Local Elections
All 317 seats in the House of Representatives were contested, including 254 district representatives and 63 party-list representatives. Preliminary reports suggest that the ruling coalition, led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., is poised to maintain a majority in the House, which would facilitate the administration’s legislative agenda in the coming years.
In local elections, notable outcomes include the gubernatorial race in Cebu province, where Pam Baricuatro is leading, and in Batangas, where Vilma Santos is ahead.
Election Conduct
The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that the midterm elections were “generally peaceful,” despite isolated incidents, including a riot in Marawi City.
COMELEC acknowledged minor glitches, such as voting machine malfunctions and power interruptions, but stated that these issues did not significantly disrupt the electoral process.
Voter Engagement
COMELEC reported that the number of registered voters for the 2025 elections reached over 68.6 million, reflecting robust voter engagement across the country.
