Celebrating the Philippine Independence Day Grand Parade

In an unprecedented show of unity, patriotism and force, 30 or more disparate Fil-Am groups joined the celebration of the Kalayaan Grand in Historic Filipinotown last Saturday, June 7.

Inspired by the Filipino American Community of Los Angeles (FACLA), led by its sterling President Austin “June” Baul, formidable groups of the Fil-Am community such as the Philippine Consulate General of Los Angeles and Justice for Filipino Veteran (JFAV) participated in the colorful event in jovial celebration.

Photos from the Asian Journal photography team present how the parade should be felt—through the lively, electric views, emphasizing color and evoking something  definitive if our past in quest of our independence.

While you can’t photograph the sublime, remembrance captures snippets of sacrifice… and valor with history as the final judge of our deeds.
