The AAPI voice unites for Trump and the Republican Party

by Lisa Melanie Noeth
On October 18, 2016, many members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Republicans throughout the nation were invited to attend the AAPI Advisory Committee meeting with Governor Calvo of Guam and Governor Torres of the Northern Mariana Islands at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The presence of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in U.S. politics cannot be ignored as our population continues to increase in the country. From this discussion panel, I witnessed the AAPI community individuals expressing their concerns passionately about various policy measures and issues that impact the community.
As a Filipino-American Republican myself, I am proud of all of us for sharing ideas on how can we engage the AAPI community in this election to get out the vote by reaching out through social media, television and radio talk show interviews, and by explaining to undecided voters why he or she should vote for Mr. Trump.
In the meeting, job growth and economic prosperity is an integral issue in the minds of the AAPI members speaking out to Mr. Trump’s advisory board and the two governors present. One community member in the meeting highlighted three important talking points about the economy that the Republican Party represents, which includes “less taxes, less regulation, and smaller government”. In addition, I also emphasized the importance of the need of the Republican Party and Mr. Trump to appealing and reaching out to AAPI young adults and college students. College graduates needs jobs from companies that stay in the United States not free handouts promised by Mrs. Clinton and the Democrats. Lastly, there is a common misconception of the Republican Party’s tough stances on illegal immigration in the AAPI community. Mr. Trump and the Republican Party boldly accepts with open arms legal immigration not illegal immigration. Many of the AAPI share the common reason why they legally immigrated to the United States- for a better job opportunity for themselves and their families.
The AAPI’s vote for Mr. Trump and various individuals running for local and state elected office in the Republican ticket on November 8, 2016 is crucial for America to continue to preserve personal freedom, economic growth, traditional values of family and faith, and entrepreneurship.  I witnessed the Asian American and Pacific Islanders today as one united Republican Party that despite the different languages and nationalities, we all share the same moral and policy based foundations that Republicans believe in. This upcoming election is very important to the future and the direction of our beloved country. We are all Americans, living and working hard, in the country we all love and we want to preserve traditional Republican values. This is the land of the free and home of the brave, which resonates from all us in that room.. The only way for Mr. Trump to win this election is through the hearts and voices of of every AAPI regardless of age, race, and economic background. From this meeting I am glad that Mr. Trump is listening to the voice of the AAPI community and rest assured I believe that he will work hard to ensure that he will bring back jobs by making America great again.
