IT is official! It will be Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton vs Republican nominee Donald Trump in the final stretch of the race to the White House after both were officially nominated in their respective party conventions during the past two weeks.
After testimonial speeches and videos making the case as to why their respective candidate deserves to be the 45th President of the United States, both major political parties have now shifted to the general election mode, with attacks targeted against each other, as both have made history being the nominees with the highest unfavorability ratings. Surveys reveal that FEAR of the nominee of the opposing party being catapulted to the highest position in the nation has now become the strongest motivation for Americans to go out, campaign and cast their votes for their nominee.
Donald Trump enjoyed a bump in the polls immediately following the Republican National Convention (RNC) last week. This week, Clinton dominated Trump.
A poll released on Thursday, July 28 showed Clinton with a massive lead over Trump in Pennsylvania — a state both presidential candidates are zeroing in on.
The Suffolk University poll showed Clinton with a 9-point lead over Trump in Pennsylvania, as the Democratic National Convention (DNC) took place in Philadelphia. According to Business Insider, even when Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein are included, Clinton’s lead remains 9 points.
Immediately after Clinton formally accepted the nomination on Thursday night, a CNN instant poll on Hillary’s speech showed that 71 percent of those who watched the DNC said it was very positive and overall 86 percent positive.
On the other hand, 57 percent of those who watched the RNC said they found Trump’s speech to be very positive, and overall 75 percent positive.
Among viewers who viewed the speeches negatively, 12 percent felt negative about Clinton’s speech, compared to Trump’s 24 percent negative rating of last week’s speech.
There are 100 days before Americans cast their vote in November, but before then, we need to be discerning in getting to know each candidate through their campaign sorties, interviews, speeches, debates and by reading more about their characters, track records, visions, platforms, and plans for America..
