FILIPINO American Remy Martin has declared for the 2021 NBA Draft, following his four-year stint with the Arizona State Sun Devils.

In a video posted on the Sun Devils’ Instagram account on May 6, the 6-foot point guard announced his intention to apply for the NBA Draft.

“I just want to let you guys know that I’m extremely thankful for the four years that you guys have been supporting me. I want you guys to know that I will be pursuing my NBA dreams,” said Martin.

He also expressed gratitude for his team and his family who supported him.
“I want to say thank you to coach Hurley and his staff for allowing me to be myself, allowing me to play my game. I also want to thank my parents, my family, you guys have been supporting me throughout the years and you guys will always be there for me,” Martin said.

“I just want you guys to know that you know I love you guys and Sun Devil for life,” he added.

During his four years at Arizona State, Martin became one of the Sun Devils’ all-time leaders for helping his squad to back-to-back NCAA tournaments in 2018 and 2019, as well as helping them achieve three straight 20-win seasons from 2017 to 2020.

Initially, Martin declared for the 2020 NBA draft, but withdrew later to stay for his senior season.

He averaged 19.1 points, 3.7 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in his senior year.

Last year, he was named to the Associated Press’ 2020-21 preseason All-America team — the second player from Arizona State to receive AP preseason All-American honors after Ike Diogu in 2003-04.

Martin will join fellow Filipino Americans Ron Harper Jr. and Jalen Green in this year’s NBA Draft. (AJPress)
