WITH the coming Christmas season, it is always nice to have that “someone special” for the holidays who you can cuddle with and celebrate. Since the holidays come early in the Philippines, one would think that aside from Valentine’s Day, this season should be filled with love.
However, a number of showbiz couples have suddenly decided that it is time to part ways.
The most recent was the short-lived love affair of hunky actor Derek Ramsey and sexy actress Cristine Reyes, but just last July longtime couple Billy Crawford and Nikki Gil has also called it quits.
Now, two more couples have headed for Splitsville.
Actor/host Luis Manzano recently confirmed that his relationship with girlfriend, actress Jennylyn Mercado, is over. Although neither of the two have come out to the press about it, he did confirm it to KrisTV head writer Darla Sauler. It was also Sauler who posted a blind item on her blog last Oct. 9 about their breakup, which Luis vehemently denied. So far, the real reason behind the demise of their almost two-year relationship is unknown. For now, both Jennylyn and Luis wants to keep things private.
Their relationship wasn’t free from controversies though. The most recent was when Jennylyn’s name was dragged as the alleged third party in the separation of actor Paolo Contis and EB Babes dancer Lian Paz.
It can be remembered that in past, Jennylyn was involved with Patrick Garcia and has a son with him named Jazz. One of the issues she’s involved in is the matter of asking for financial support from the father of her child. She also had a relationship with Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo.
Another couple that have ended their relationship is Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin and football player Phil Younghusband.
Angel or Phil has not spoken about the breakup issue, and neither has confirm nor deny it. But sources say that the breakup is real, saying that there were some things that the couple do not agree on, and that both needed space. Angel’s manager, Ethel Ramos, said that she does not know anything about the alleged breakup. She also explained that she doesn’t want to bother her since Angel is busy taping for her new series, The Legal Wife.
Phil and Angel became a couple last year, after a year-long romance that started with a tweet from the Azkals striker asking the actress out for Valentine’s Day. Recognized by many as a power couple in Philippine showbiz, Phil has also been very vocal in marrying Angel.
So are they or are they not? Let us wait and see what happens next.
