One and only Philippine Superstar Nora Aunoy turns 60 on May 21

Multi-awarded Nora Aunor, now residing in Los Angeles, will celebrate her 60th birthday on Tuesday, May 21.  La Aunor, internationally known as the one and only Superstar of the Philippine entertainment industry, was born in Iriga, Camarines Sur.  She was the grand champion of the Darigold Jamboree Singing Contest at that time.  She represented her province at the Tawag ng Tanghalan singing competition, where she became the grand winner.

She started her singing and movie career under Tower Movie Production, owned by producer-director Artemio Marquez.  In 1973, she was crowned as the first Miss Philippines Movies together with former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada for their movie, Erap is my Guy.
