One and only Philippine Superstar Nora Aunor turns 61 on May 24

Superstar Nora Aunor, now a resident of Los Angeles, will celebrate her 61st birthday on May 21.  La Aunor, known as the one and only Superstar of the Philippines, was born in Iriga, Camarines Sur.

She was the grand champion of the Darigold Jamboree Singing Contest and represented her province at the Tawag ng Tanghalan, where she bagged the grand prize.  She started her movie career under Tower Movie Productions, owned by director Artemio Marquez.  In 1973 she was crowned as the first Miss Philippine Movies together with former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada, for their movie, Erap is my Guy.
