Actress and television host Kim Chiu intends to continue pursuing a qualified theft complaint against her older sister, Lakambini “Lakam” Chiu, according to a statement released Thursday by her talent agency.
Star Magic issued the clarification after a 2023 interview resurfaced in which Chiu spoke warmly about her sister. The agency said the interview accurately reflected their circumstances at the time but should not be interpreted as representing the present situation.
According to Star Magic, Chiu later obtained what the agency described as material information that came to light in 2025 and prompted her to take legal action.
The agency said the criminal complaint remains pending before the proper authorities and that Chiu would pursue the matter through established legal procedures.
“Kim remains firm in her decision to pursue the case through the proper legal process in order to establish the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable, and seek justice,” Star Magic said.
Those objectives represent Chiu’s stated position. No finding of criminal responsibility has been reported, and the allegations remain subject to evaluation by prosecutors and, should charges eventually be filed, adjudication by a court.
Chiu filed the qualified theft complaint on Dec. 2, 2025, in Quezon City. In a statement released at the time, she said the action followed months of internal review into what she characterized as serious financial discrepancies within her business operations.
She alleged that substantial amounts connected to business assets had been found missing. Chiu said filing the complaint was necessary to protect her company, its employees and the business she had built.
Her legal counsel said at the time that the complaint concerned transactions during 2025 and that Lakambini had been part of the business’s management. The company involved, the amount being questioned and the precise scope of Lakambini’s duties were not publicly disclosed.
The assertions concerning the business and its finances are allegations made by Chiu and her representatives. They have not been independently established through a final prosecutorial determination or court judgment.
Star Magic said its latest statement was intended to explain the sequence of events and prevent Chiu’s earlier remarks from being taken out of their original context.
The agency asked the public to respect her privacy while the complaint proceeds through the legal system.
