Charice says suicide attempt rumors not true, denies that she’s broke

RUMORS have been floating the past week about the alleged suicide attempt of international singing star Charice Pempengco, and finally she came out to clear all assumptions.

The news about Charice’s attempt on her life started when her maternal grandmother, Teresita Relucio, came out on TV5’s talk show, Showbiz News Police two weeks ago.  In her interview, Lola Teresita said that she was told that her granddaughter tried to slit her wrists.  The reason:  it was said that Charice is financially broke.

Lola Teresita also reached out to Charice’s mother, Raquel, about patching things with her granddaughter. The Mother and daughter have not been in good terms since Charice finally admitted that she is a lesbian and in in a same-sex relationship with Alyssa Quijano.

Since coming out, Charice has been very vocal about her love for Alyssa.  In fact, they are living together since September.

After her grandmother’s interview, the singer was clearly affected.  Although she did not specifically mention the controversy about her, she posted her thoughts on her Twitter account.

“Appalled is the word I’m looking for.  It’s what I feel at this moment,” she tweeted and continued,” Good night, beautiful people.  Always pray and God bless.”

Also to stop the speculations and rumors, Charice finally broke her silence by sending an official statement to ABS-CBN News online.

Aside from denying that she tried to commit suicide, she also crushed the rumors of being financially broke.

Mahal ko po ang buhay ko, lalo pa nga’t malaya ko nang naipapahayag ang totoong ako, (I love my life, especially now that I am free to show who I really am),” the statement said.  “At mayroon pa rin po akong naitatagong pera (And I still have money saved).”

Charice also added that she believes the right time will come when her family finally accepts who she really is.  For now, she is still working hard to help them, as she loves both her mother and brother very much.

Love is lovelier the second time around, they say.  For veteran actress Boots Anson-Roa, this is true—as she is set to face the altar for the second time with lawyer Atty. King Rodrigo next year.

Age does not matter either.  Boots is 68 years old, while Atty. King is already 74.    They have been friends for as long as they can remember, but have never considered being romantically involved.    Even after their respective spouses passed away, they were clueless about their friends and families trying to set them up.

It was only early this year when the romance started, when they saw each other at the memorial of Atty. King’s son.

Boots first husband, Pete Roa passed away in 2007 due to stomach cancer.  He and Atty. King were schoolmates in Ateneo.

All their children too have no objections to their upcoming marriage.  Boots has four kids with her late husband, including TV host Chiqui Roa-Puno, while Atty. King has five, including the one who recently passed away.

Boots and Atty. King also visited their respective spouses and asked for their blessings.

Ah, love!  We wish the happy couple advanced best wishes!
