LOS ANGELES — The Philippine Department of Tourism-North America has partnered with DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island, tying the upcoming Filipino-inspired animated feature to a campaign promoting travel to the Philippines.
The collaboration includes a North American sweepstakes whose grand prize combines airfare to Manila with hotel stays in Tagaytay and El Nido.
Forgotten Island, which opens in U.S. theaters Sept. 25, centers on Jo and Raissa, longtime friends preparing to go their separate ways after high school. Their final night together takes an unexpected turn when they enter a portal leading to Nakali, a fantastical island populated by beings drawn from stories they heard from their Filipino families.
H.E.R. voices Jo and Liza Soberano plays Raissa. The cast also includes Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Ronny Chieng and Lea Salonga.
Joel Crawford and Filipino American filmmaker Januel Mercado wrote and directed the movie, with Mark Swift serving as producer. The three previously worked together on DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Universal Pictures is distributing the film.
Under the tourism promotion, one grand-prize winner will receive one round-trip economy-class ticket to the Philippines provided by United Airlines.
The package also includes a three-day, two-night stay in a Deluxe Room at Escala Tagaytay and a four-day, three-night stay in a one-bedroom Premium Villa at Lihim Resorts in El Nido. Both hotel prizes include daily breakfast for two.
The sweepstakes runs through Oct. 15 and is open to eligible legal residents of the United States and Canada who are at least 18 years old. No purchase is required, and entries are limited to one per person.
A winner is scheduled to be chosen at random on or around Oct. 16 from eligible entries received during the promotion period.
Airfare and hotel stays are subject to the conditions specified in the official rules, including availability, validity periods and certain hotel blackout dates. Expenses not expressly included in the prize remain the winner’s responsibility.
The sweepstakes is administered by Industry’s Finest LLC on behalf of the Philippine Department of Tourism-North America. United Airlines, Escala Tagaytay and Lihim Resorts in El Nido are providing the prize components.
