Filipino singer Sophia Laforteza is temporarily stepping back from promotional activities with KATSEYE to focus on her mental health and wellness, according to HxG, the partnership between HYBE and Geffen Records.
In an Aug. 7 notice, HxG said Laforteza would be unable to join upcoming promotions after consultations with medical professionals, who recommended extended rest and ongoing care. Management said her condition would be reassessed in September but did not announce a return date.
Laforteza also told fans, known as EYEKONS, that stepping away was difficult but necessary to care for her mind and body and sustain her ability to perform over the long term.
The hiatus followed an earlier absence from KATSEYE’s schedule. On July 30, HxG said Laforteza would miss the Hinterland Music Festival because of illness. The company did not identify the illness or link it to the health concerns cited later.
Laforteza is the second KATSEYE member to take a health-related hiatus in 2026. In February, HxG said Manon Bannerman would temporarily step away to focus on her “health and wellbeing,” without disclosing a diagnosis or return date.
The six-member group, formed through The Debut: Dream Academy, has gained international attention with “Touch,” “Gnarly” and “Gabriela.” KATSEYE received 2026 Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Gabriela.”
