Advice comes as public attention grows over Kaila Estrada’s reported closeness with Daniel Padilla, with no confirmed statement from either actor.
MANILA — Actress Janice de Belen has urged her daughter, Kaila Estrada, to exercise caution in matters of the heart as speculation continues linking Estrada to actor Daniel Padilla.
In an interview with television journalist Julius Babao, de Belen said she maintains a parenting approach grounded in trust and independence, noting that her children are capable of making their own decisions. Her advice to Estrada was succinct: “Guard your heart.”
A parenting approach shaped by independence
De Belen said she does not interfere in her children’s personal lives, emphasizing that Estrada, 30, is an adult. She added that her role is to guide rather than control, allowing her children to navigate relationships on their own.
The veteran actress underscored that she avoids overprotective parenting, choosing instead to foster autonomy. She said she trusts her children to make decisions that prioritize their well-being.
Renewed attention from public appearances and social media
Public interest in Estrada’s personal life intensified following recent social media activity and appearances. On April 28, Estrada shared an Instagram Story showing her and Padilla in an embrace during his birthday celebration, a post that circulated widely online.
The two actors previously worked together in the 2025 action-drama television series Incognito, establishing a professional connection that later drew public attention. They have also been seen together at events, including a concert earlier this year.
Despite these developments, neither Estrada nor Padilla has issued a formal confirmation regarding the nature of their relationship.
Padilla, who has largely kept his personal life private following his widely reported 2023 breakup with longtime partner Kathryn Bernardo, declined to define his relationship status during press interactions.
De Belen’s remarks remain the only attributable and confirmed comment directly addressing the situation, and her message, delivered without elaboration, centers on caution rather than confirmation.
