The Star Music release accompanies a Los Angeles-filmed supernatural comedy centered on a Filipina nurse who communicates with spirits
MANILA — Singer and vocal coach Jade Riccio has recorded “The Denial Song,” the official soundtrack for iWant’s supernatural workplace comedy “Nurse the Dead.”
The track was written by series creator Mark Labella and produced by RMA Studio Academy, Riccio, Wesley Villarica and Marvin Aritrangco. Star Music released it on digital streaming platforms.
Labella said he began developing the song’s lyrics and melody during a medical mission in Panama, an experience he described as giving the composition meaning.
“Nurse the Dead” premiered on iWant on June 12. The series follows Noa Reyes, played by Jelynn Sophia Malone, a Filipina nurse who balances hospital work and personal pressures while hiding her ability to see and communicate with spirits.
The cast also includes Anthony Jennings, Princess Punzalan, Ruby Rodriguez, Gigette Reyes and Tootsie Guevara. Filmed in Los Angeles, the production draws on the experiences of Filipino nurses in the United States and was partly inspired, Labella has said, by his mother’s nursing career.
iWant describes the program as its first Filipino-produced series filmed in Hollywood, a platform characterization rather than an independently established industry-wide distinction.
Riccio joined Star Music in 2019 and has worked in classical crossover performance, vocal coaching and music production.
