The Filipino-American community in Los Angeles is brimming with all kinds of events every week, and there’s certainly one for everyone to attend. As the saying goes, “Get in where you fit in.” But most certainly, everyone would want to fit in an event that reaches far beyond California shores to the most remote areas of our motherland.
On Friday, April 25, JollyBox Global Founder Madeline Arenas and her team of volunteers and supporters are bringing the JollyBox Global Fundraiser Gala to the Norwalk Community Center. Some of the best local Fil-Am singers in Los Angeles such as Fil-Am Prince of Pop Garth Garcia, Juls King and Jane Magan Chang, belly and fire dancer Didi Caneda are performing. TFC Host Evelyn Garcia will be hosting the fundraiser event that features a buffet dinner, a 360 photo booth and a best-dressed contest. There will be raffle prizes and giveaways as well.
Founded in 2020 by photographer and philanthropist Madeline Arenas, JollyBox Philippines, also known as JollyBox Global, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to empower underprivileged tribal communities by providing education, nourishment, and resources to help individuals break free from poverty and build a self-reliant future.
The organization collects pre-loved children’s books, school and art supplies, toys, and shoes, which are shipped to Manila and distributed to indigenous communities in the Philippines. They also focus on renovating libraries to create conducive learning environments for children.

This year’s gala aims to raise funds for the building of libraries in the province of Zambales and other areas, which include Chiang Chio Te Memorial Aeta School and United Nations Women’s Aeta School. Theses two libraries alone provide books, learning materials and services for more than 200 learners.
JollyBox Global operates with a dedicated team of volunteers and board members, including professionals with expertise in nonprofit strategy, marketing, and program management. Their collective efforts aim to create a more equitable society where opportunities are accessible to all.
Locally, JollyBox mobilizes volunteers and donors through its outreach and fundraising efforts at local events. The upcoming event is generously sponsored by Gold Sponsors such as Touching Hands Care Group, Inc., Florinda Sevilla of the U.S. Navy, Ateneo Utopia and Kramer Brown Hui, LLP.
