As Christmas draws near, so do the festive decorations and lights that illuminate every corner of the city. Metro Manila is no exception. While establishments can decorate their space and call it a day, other places embody the season’s joy by sharing its beauty with others.
Last October 20, 2023, SM Megamall took it up a notch by lighting up their gigantic, 45-foot Christmas tree in the heart of the mall’s bustling shopping section— The Mega Fashion Hall. SM Supermalls mark this occasion with a spectacular 3D Christmas show, Mega & Bright: World of Christmas Wonder. This event brings the holiday festivities of New York Times Square at one of the Philippine Metro’s liveliest and biggest malls.
Distinguished guests gave their opening speeches, including Mandaluyong’s Vice Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Aguilar Abalos and SM Supermalls AVP for Operations Christian V. Mathay.
Together with eye-catching LED screens and show-stopping performances showing the Nutcracker soldiers and dancing fairies, the event kicks off. Starry-eyed children invited by SM got a front-row view of the show and even interacted with the performers.
One of the highlights of the event was the appearance of prolific singer-songwriter and “King of Philippine Christmas Carols”, Jose Mari Chan. He sang the Christmas jingle for SM Supermalls along with his greatest hits, “A Perfect Christmas”, “Christmas In Our Hearts”, “Please Be Careful with My Heart”, and “Beautiful Girl”.
Since the event was in an open space on SM Megamall’s Ground Floor, audiences at the top levels also witnessed the performances live.
Not only did he serenade the audience, but he even let the audience participate and duet with him during “Please Be Careful with My Heart”
After the special performances, the guests enjoyed the food and refreshments prepared by sponsors Astons and Mo’ Cookies. While the event was fleeting, it was the perfect way to celebrate lighting up the vibrant SM Megamall this Christmas season.
