Glendale, CA – The Filipino-American Business Association of Glendale (FABAG-GLAC) successfully celebrated Filipino American History Month last October 23, 2021 with a Business Expo and Cultural presentation which included folk dances by Kultura Philippine Folk Arts under the direction of Celia Diaz Defato, songs by Holy Family Filipino Chorale, Filipiniana Fashion Show by Carmelo Designs, Food sampling and video clips of the History of Philippines and famous tourist destinations.
One of the highlights of the celebration was a tribute to the late Ruby De Vera, one of the founders and past presidents, and showing of a video montage of FABAG’s past 31 years of community services and outreach programs. FABAG’s proposed project to be built in Glendale called “Filipino American Friendship Monument” was also introduced that night.
In attendance were LA’s Hon. Consul General Edgar Badajos, Glendale Hon. Mayor Paula Devine, Councilmembers and Representatives from the Legislative Offices, other groups and organizations. Mayor Devine presented FABAG with a Proclamation and Certificates of Recognition were also given to President Jo Solomonson by all the Offices.
Edith M. Fuentes, Past President and current Glendale Planning Commissioner commented: “KUDOS to all these dedicated, committed and strong Leaders of FABAG-GLAC for continuing our strong presence in the community and for showcasing our culture and history. Proud to be a FABAG member and a Pinoy.”
