Filipino-American hip-hop artist and philanthropist Apl.de.Ap is set to headline the 25th anniversary of the Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture which will be held on October 8, 2016 at the historic Echo Park Lake in Los Angeles, Calfiornia.

Apl.de.Ap, real name Allan Pineda Lindo, is best known as member of the Grammy-winning group The Black Eyed Peas. The group popularized hit songs like “Where is the Love?”, “Pump It”, and the Pinoy fan-favorite “The APL Song.”

Apl.de.Ap did not hesitate to to get involved with FPAC25 when the opportunity presented itself. He said in a statement that FPAC, as the longest-running and largest Philippine arts and culture festival in the US, is important because it highlights the best in our food, arts, and culture.

“I’m excited to be a part of this year’s celebration, especially that [FPAC is] celebrating its 25th year, returning to Echo Park. It will be a historic moment,” Apl said.

As an appointed ambassador for the Philippine Department of Tourism, Apl continuously works to encourage others to get involved by supporting and giving back the Filipino community here in the US, and across the world. He has spearheaded philanthropic initiatives such as the Apl.de.Ap Foundation, among others, and has used his influence to draw attention to the Filipino-American diaspora.

Other performers include Stahyl of Jabawockeez/My Digital Kids, Bambu, Jon-Jon Briones, Odessa Kane, Malaya Filam Dance Arts, Kayamanan ng Lahi, Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble, Digital Martyrs, Mama Bares, the Adapon Sisters, Ranella Ferrer, Rocksetady Rondalla, Jhing Sillona, Matt Almodiel, Chris Alanis, Zigzag Theory Band, and other surprise guests.

Sponsors, vendors, artists come together for FPAC25

As 2016 marks the silver anniversary of FPAC, many are expecting this year’s iteration of the festival to be the biggest Pinoy party LA has seen in recent memory. And to ensure that FPAC will be no less than a rousing success this time around, many arts and culture organizations from the private and public sector have pledged grants for ‘FPAC 25 – Samu’t Sari: Showcasing the Diverse Creative Tapestry of the Fil-Am Community.’

Arts councils and organizations that have given support to FPAC include the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, LA County Arts Commission, the Getty Foundation, the California Arts Council, the Office of LA City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell, and California Humanities among others.

Corporate sponsors include household names like Toyota, McDonald’s, Wells Fargo, and Western Union among others.

Toyota, which returns has been supporting FPAC for a few years now, said in a statement that they are looking forward to being a part of this year’s festivities.

“This is the 3rd year for the Southern California Toyota Dealers Association to be a proud sponsor of FPAC. We are very excited to be sponsoring this great event, in celebration of the Filipino community and culture,” Toyota representatives said in a statement.

Other key partners for FPAC25 are Asian Journal and Kababayan LA, who got on board as media partners.

FilAm Arts interim executive director Tina Salonga-Bluchand also praised media outfits for their generous assistance to the FPAC cause by way of exposure and coverage.

“Asian Journal and Kababayan Today are both integral in our thrust to spread Filipino art to the greater Filipino-American community.  AJ and Kababayan Today are excellent platforms for promote our art because of their wide reach and substantial following,” Salonga-Bulchand said.

FPAC25 – Samu’t Sari: Showcasing the Diverse creative Tapestry of the Fil-Am Community will be on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, form 10am-8pm, at the Echo Park Lake in Los Angeles. Echo Park Lake is on 715 N Echo Park Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.
