Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo and longtime partner Chloe San Jose have announced their engagement, revealing that Yulo proposed on Dec. 18, 2025, and that the couple kept the milestone private for nine months.

The pair disclosed the engagement on Sept. 28 through social media and a proposal video. Yulo wrote, “Nine months ago… she said yes,” while San Jose said they had chosen to keep the news between themselves before sharing it publicly.

The proposal took place in Tagaytay, where Yulo presented San Jose with two engagement rings. In the video, he said the gesture was tied to the two gold medals he won at the 2024 Paris Olympics and credited San Jose with supporting him during the period leading to those victories.

Yulo presented San Jose with two rings, one with an oval blue-green center stone and another with a heart-shaped yellow center stone, a gesture he said reflected the two Olympic gold medals he won in Paris.

The announcement came days after Yulo won two titles at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. He captured the men’s floor exercise on Sept. 24 with a score of 14.666, then won vault the following day with a two-vault average of 14.599.

The floor title also gave Yulo championships at the world, Olympic and Asian Games levels in the event. Those were the same two disciplines in which he won Olympic gold in Paris, where he became the first Filipino athlete to win two gold medals at a single Games.

Yulo and San Jose have been together since 2020 after first connecting online while living in different countries. Their relationship initially developed through messages and video calls before they were able to spend more time together in person.

The couple has not publicly announced a wedding date.
