St. Catherine of Siena Parish Celebrates a Vibrant Santacruzan

Reseda, CA  – St. Catherine of Siena Church in Reseda joyfully held its first annual Santacruzan procession on Saturday, May 3, bringing together parishioners and the wider community in a beautiful display of faith and tradition.

The Santacruzan is a community celebration commemorating Empress Helena’s faithful search for the Holy Cross. Reverend Father Mauricio Goloran, parish priest of St. Catherine of Siena, spearheaded the event, which was expertly coordinated by Simon Paculan, President of the Our Lady of Antipolo Reseda Chapter.

The celebration began with a solemn procession that started at St. Catherine of Siena School and gracefully made its way to the church, where a special Mass was held—further uniting the community in prayer and fellowship. Members and dedicated volunteers from the Disciples of the Divine Trinity Group actively participated in the event, enhancing its spiritual significance and visual splendor.

A cherished Filipino religious tradition, the Santacruzan featured as Hermano Mayor the Hon. Ralph Jacob Viloria, Vice Consul of the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles. The role of Reyna Elena was held by Ms. Erica Madlangsakay; Reyna Emperatriz by Ms. Alyssa Redondo; Reyna de las Flores by Ms. Kirra Abarintos; Reyna de los Angeles by Ms. Alyanna Santos; Reyna Estrella by Ms. Elysha Faith Estrella; Reyna del Cielo by Ms. Luella Abelita; and Reyna Caridad by Ms. Mariel Mendoza. The fabulous gowns worn by the Reynas were designed by noted Filipino American fashion designer Carl Andrada.

“It was truly heartwarming to witness the devotion and enthusiasm of our parishioners and the wider community during this year’s Santacruzan,” said Reverend Father Mauricio Goloran. “The dedication of the Our Lady of Antipolo Reseda Chapter and the active participation of the Disciples of the Divine Trinity Group were instrumental in making this event a resounding success.”

Simon Paculan, President of the Our Lady of Antipolo Reseda Chapter, echoed this sentiment, stating, “We are deeply honored to have coordinated this meaningful tradition at St. Catherine of Siena. The Santacruzan is a beautiful way to celebrate our faith and heritage, and we are grateful for the support of everyone involved.”

St. Catherine of Siena Church extends its sincere gratitude to all members, volunteers, and attendees who contributed to the success of the Santacruzan, making it a memorable and spiritually enriching experience for the entire community.

Special thanks go to the USA Philippines Business Association—composed of Eliza Serna, Ivy Veneracion, and Adrian Lecaros—for their instrumental role in the event’s overall success.
