Consul General Gunther Sales joined Stephen F. Austin (SFA) State University and the Philippines-USA Partnership on Ruminant Livestock Genetic Improvement Program (PUP-RLGIP) for the Completion Celebration of the inaugural Training of Trainers cohort in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Ten Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA) officials and two private sector representatives spent several weeks training in genetic improvement, artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and modern breeding science — skills they now carry home to strengthen the Philippine cattle industry from Luzon to Mindanao.
Initiated under the Philippine DA Offices of the Undersecretary for Livestock and the Assistant Secretary for Ruminant Livestock, in partnership with the PUP-RLGIP under its Chair, Archie Tamayo, and SFA, this program stands as a model of engagement — advancing food security and rural livelihoods, as well as meaningfully growing the ties and friendship between the Philippines and Texas.
